What is an Intensive English Program?

An Intensive English Program (IEP) is a full-time English language course designed to rapidly improve your reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. At IPS, our program runs 7 levels from beginner to advanced, with classes Monday through Thursday. It is ideal for international students on F-1 visas who want to improve their English quickly.

How many hours per week is the Intensive English Program?

Our Intensive English Program requires 18 hours of instruction per week, with classes held Monday through Thursday. Morning and evening sessions are available, allowing students to choose the schedule that works best for them.

Can I start the Intensive English Program any Monday?

Yes! IPS offers open enrollment every Monday. There is no need to wait for a new semester or term to begin. You can enroll and start classes on any Monday throughout the year.

What level will I be placed in?

All new students take a placement test on their first day. Based on your results, you will be placed in one of our 7 levels — from Level 1 (Beginner) to Level 6 (Advanced) or Level 7 (TOEFL Preparation). This ensures you learn at the right pace for your current ability.

Do I need a visa to attend the Intensive English Program?

International students typically attend on an F-1 student visa. IPS is SEVP approved and issues Form I-20, which is required for your F-1 visa application. We assist with new I-20s, transfers from other schools, change of status, and reinstatement cases.

How long is the Intensive English Program?

Each level takes approximately 6 months (one semester) to complete. The total program length depends on your starting level and goals. Some students complete all 7 levels over 2-3 years, while others may only need a few levels before achieving their target proficiency.
